Case File Details
David Allen Gross, 21, was found Aug. 10, 1977, beaten and strangled in the hatchback
of his car at Arrow Island Lookout in the Delaware Water Gap Recreation Area off Route 611 in Upper Mount Bethlel Township, police said.
Gross lived in Mount Pocono in Monroe County.
It's possible he was killed at another location and transported to where he was found, police said.
He was a 1974 graduate of Pocono Mountain High School, worked as a carpenter for his father and recently had begun working for a local art gallery, police said.
His 21st birthday party a few days before in Barrett Township was heavily attended by people from Monroe County and the Lehigh Valley and several bands played, police said.
